This is a fun categorization activity that can be done with a small or large group of students. This activity is a brainstorming, listing, and arranging activity (Critical Common Core Vocabulary). As a group, or individually depending on the level of your student's knowledge, the students will create lists of foods for the following categories: Meats/Proteins (pork, beef, poultry, seafood, etc.), Fruits, Vegetables, Side Dishes, Dairy Products, Beverages, Condiments, Desserts, Breakfast Foods, and Appetizers. The unit includes lists of foods for each category with room to add more foods as the students think of them. There are two worksheets which require the students to make up menus while given specific directions as to what needs to be included. For example, "Your menu must include one protein, one green vegetable, a hot beverage, and one cold dessert." Both Thanksgiving and Holiday worksheets are included. Enjoy this unit and happy holidays!
