PS: The story behind the name of this game: After brainstorming with family and friends for over a week, I decided to ask my students for title suggestions. After playing the game, I asked, "What would you call this game?" The response I received from my 1st & 2nd graders was "Pirate Game". And I realized that no matter what "fancy title" I gave this game, my students (and yours also!) would end up calling this game "That Pirate Game". You know, as in "Hey Ms. Speech Teacher -- let's play THAT Pirate Game! I love that game!" So, why not call it what every student on my caseload (and yours) will eventually be calling it? That Pirate Game. I hope you and your students enjoy this game as much as my students do.
