Students review, or learn about, the struggle for power and land between the English Plantagenets and French Valois during the 100 Years' War by completing a 26 event timeline activity and answering 5 questions. Students classify the items according to a system detailed in the instructions. They then complete one task for 6 items of their choice and a different task for 3 other items. There are arrows in the first two lines of the timeline showing students the direction to fill out the pieces in. The answers are included where appropriate and this could work for a sub!
Sample timeline items and questions include:
--Phillip VI announces plan to invade England and Scotland
--Phillip VI loses at the Battle of Crecy
--Treaty of Bretigny
--Henry VI declared King of England and France
--Joan of Arc tried and executed by the English
--France takes Rouen back
--England loses the Battle of Formigny
--Discuss how the 100 Years’ War introduced, or was a precursor to, nationalism in Europe.
--Create a one line slogan to sum up the 100 Years’ War.
