Product Description
In this project, students are given the gift of $1,000 from their grandma. Students use addition and subtraction in this project. They also must budget accordingly so they don't go over their $1,000 gift.

They must:
o Put at least $125 in savings
o Take their family (4 people) out to dinner (dish, drink & dessert for each person)
o Buy a small pet and necessary supplies
o Purchase additional items (can be anything from a bike to video game)
o Track their spending on a tracking sheet
o Write a thank you to their grandma

Students use the internet to find a restaurant to take their family out to dinner. They also look on www.petsmart.com for a small pet to purchase.

A writing component is incorporated too! Students are asked to write a friendly thank you letter to their grandma explaining how they spent their money.
