This is a reader's theater adaptation of the short story The 11:59 by Patricia McKissack. The story centers around Lester Simmons, a Pullman car porter (and part of the first black union, The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters), as he passes on the legend of the 11:59 with the younger porters. This story will engage students, develop fluency skills, and invite deep discussions regarding events, beliefs, and character actions.
