Have you ever wanted to students to think critically, discuss purposefully and write logically? Then this is the lesson for you? This lesson connects Constitutional principles with current events. Then students will analyze these concepts by applying the 1st amendment's religious clauses to the controversial topics of federal funding to faith based organizations and the prohibition of polygamy *sources are already included. After researching and collecting evidence, the students will engage in an in class discussion surrounding the two topics, concluding in the students writing a logical answer to each of the questions: (1) Is federal funding to faith based organizations Constitutional based on the Establishment Clause? (2) Is the federal prohibition of polygamy Constitutional based on the Free Exercise Clause?
