This 19-slide presentation is a compact lesson that introduces students to what has been called the "Aristotelian Conflicts." Using a quote by Stanley Kubrick about how every story has already been told the presentation explains human vs. human, human vs. self, human vs. society, human vs. nature, human vs. machine, human vs. gods, and human vs. the supernatural.
Star Wars and Luke "Skywalker" & Harry Potter are used as examples throughout. There is also brief reference to "Macbeth."
The presentation is dynamic with moving graphics and text, as well as several gifs to provide attention-maintaining movement on the screen. More than 15 pictures enhance the understanding of the conflicts.
Common Core Standards are included.
Previously, the terms emphasized the patriarchal use of "man," as in: man vs. man, man vs. self, man vs. society, man vs. nature, man vs. machine, man vs. gods, and man vs. the supernatural.
