This assignment and presentation will help you introduce the basics of videography to beginning students interested in television production (TV), broadcast, film, or video! Taught as a beginning lesson for basic television production students in college, this powerpoint deck includes the overview you need to introduce fundamentals of a professional video camera to your students. This material would be a great option for College, HS, or Junior High level students.
This material includes:
• The 'ABCs of Video Project' guidelines that I assign to teach my beginning college broadcasting/film majors to help them become familiar with the professional functions of shooting video.
• I have also included a PowerPoint deck that gives an overview of each of the elements each student is expected to master in the project (focus, iris, shot selection, white balance, and more). I am providing my rubric to assess students on the ABC Video Project.
• In addition I have included guidelines I use for a reflection paper which helps the student review their learning experience on the ABC video project.
NOTES: This assignment is generally taught using prosumer/professional video cameras that have the ability to adjust the iris, white balance, and focus manually. This could be adapted for use for cameras using auto functions but was originally designed and geared originally for a camera with manual capabilities.
