-Cover the whole book. Questions for every chapter.
-126 Questions total. This does not include the Book Review Form at end which can be used for ANY novel. Great resource.
-Questions: about 1/2 require two (or more) sentences, the rest are a combination of fill in the blank and brief response, and there are a few which ask for longer responses.
-Directions read as follows: "Questions must be answered with at least two complete sentences for full credit, unless otherwise stated.
Questions with asterisks do not require complete sentences - phrases or single words okay, if it answers the question/s. Errors in capitalization and punctuation will be counted."
-About 20% of questions are open-ended thought questions, or responses may vary, to encourage independent thought. The rest have specific right/wrong answers.
-Images throughout to hold student attention
-Pg 1 is a cover page
-Pgs 2-16 are chapter questions
-Pg 17 is a Book Review Form. It can be used for ANY book! GREAT resource all year long! Asks student to: describe protagonist, summarize book, tell if they recommend it (or not) and why, and rate it.
-Last four pages are answer key
-Here are some questions to give you a feel:
Junior is deeply upset about the death of Oscar. Explain.
What big change does Junior want to make?
Describe the conversation between Junior and his dad on the way to Reardan.
What rules did Rowdy ask Roger about?
Who was Junior told to block all game?
What became Junior’s grieving ceremony?
*My students are below level, so the questions are not all higher order thinking questions (but some are). They are probably around 7th grade level questions, although I use the book with 10th grade.
