Here is a free activity that can help introduce the Action Cycle to your classroom for the International Baccalaureate Program (for IB world schools). First, choose a story to read with a strong moral or lesson, such as a "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss. As you read the story, ask students to inquire about how the characters display the elements of the Action Cycle (act, choose and reflect). Then, have them record on this sheet ways they will either act, choose or reflect about different situations in the real world. You may display this work upon a bulletin board to track student goals.
