**Updated With Answer Key!** This packet is a study guide for Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (unabridged version). You will find a variety of assignments for your students, including:
•Pre-reading Internet Scavenger Hunt--to be used as an anticipatory set
•Chapter Notes Reading Guide--This is a 1-page template for students to fill out to take notes on/summarize the chapters. There are a variety of uses for this, from in-class reading, a homework sheet when assigning a chapter to read at home, for use in literature circles, and/or a general assessment of your student's comprehension. I don't usually assign this for every chapter, but on occasion to hold students accountable when they've been assigned independent reading. The teacher can photo copy as many of these sheets as necessary and have on hand to pass out to students.
•Character Counts--Chart that students fill out about character traits as they read the book. This is an ongoing assignment.
•Chapter 1 questions
•Chapter 2 questions
•Chapters 3-5 vocabulary & questions
•Chapter 6 quiz (1 page, can be used as in-class, take-home, or pop quiz)
•Chapter 11 Writing Assignment--1 to 2 page narrative, includes outline!
•Chapter 13 questions
•Famous Pirates Activity
•Tom Sawyer Eulogy Assignment
•Chapter 18 questions
•Chapter 23 Pop quiz
•Chapter 26 questions
•Chapter 26 vocabulary
•Debate Activity: "Has Tom Matured?"
•Chapter 29 questions
•Chapter 30 questions
•Chapters 30-35 Vocabulary
•Final Writing Assignment--Book vs. Movie Brainstorm Venn-Diagram and Rubric--This assignment requires students to watch the movie version of the book. There are a few movies out there you can choose from: 1938 film, 1973 musical adaptation, Disney's Tom and Huck (1995)
