The students write a poem that incorporates adding adverbs, one at a time, to create a poem. By the end, students have a better understanding of what adverbs are, and have fun reading the poetry aloud.
The PowerPoint is ready to go, with a slide to leave up while the students are working to keep them on track, and two clear examples of the poetry, one of which is shown clearly taking form.
A simple idea, but the results can be quite creative!
Also, check out my other adverb activity that will really liven up your English/grammar class session... Adverb Antics!
In addition, I've just released the first episode of Grammar Court
- a fun, interactive grammar review that will have your students engaged and learning.
Including time for students to read, this is about a 30 minute activity.
I'm giving this away, since I got the idea for this activity from a website (http://iteslj.org/Techniques/Hussein-Poems.html) which contains a similar version of the goat poem.
