Do you need an activity to introduce the Age of Exploration to your students? We have got exactly what you are looking for!
The assignment is created with engagement in mind. This colorful assignment reviews 6 different explorers with a chart asking where they are from, where they went and their impact on history. The students get to see images of what these men looked like as well. Students will examine the importance of new technology in sailing that helped these explorers succeed. There are two debrief questions that ask your students to examine big picture topics with regards to exploring. The activity concludes with a short vocabulary review about the Spanish American empire and students will step into the shoes of Columbus and draw a map of what he thought the world looked like before he left on his voyage.
