Biographies are an excellent way to meet ELA standards for informational texts while integrating your Social Studies Standards. This unit has many possible uses. While this unit might be used for higher 2nd grade readers, it is best suited for use with the upper elementary grades or for the Special Education Services of older students.
This unit includes:
-Biographies in color and in b/w for all 44 of the U.S. Presidents. Each biography includes date of birth, place of birth, early life/career, marriage and children, military and/or political service, political party, vice president, term in office, accomplishments and struggles during term in office, death of death, place of death, and honors/legacy.
-a list of presidential vocabulary terms
-a 9 page student booklet on “The Roles and Duties of the U.S. President” with a follow up activity/assessment
-“Who Could Run for President?” game, center, or pocket chart sort
-Presidential Biography graphic organizer/report
-Presidential Timeline graphic organizer
