CAVEAT: This is NOT for your AP World History class. This is for your ELLs, your quasi-ELLs, your "I'm just here for the social life" students, your "I hate school" crowd who can pass that test if they just focused! If your kids struggle with the textbook, give my stuff a chance.

Over 50 pages with questions, pictures, and diagrams. All you need is a class set of computers or a library computer lab. This whole unit could last you a few classes, if you add some projects here and there and some Cornell notes.

About BFUs (Benchmark-focused Units)
----
Powerpoints and Textbooks have their limits. I teach mid/upper-level ELL students and gen-ed students with low lexiles and lower attention spans. My test scores on the VA SOL (yes, that’s what our test is called here) were low until I started focusing on Comprehensible Input and Drill-and-Kill. They need to be engaged and understand the text! So simple. I just had to rewrite history! Then, add targeted questions to make sure they are reading.
The questions target HIGH STAKES TEST items! Oh yeah!

I’m selling my BFUs (Benchmark-Focused Units) so that you can see what a difference they make. The BFU is written at a lower lexile level but targets high school standards. (The VA standards are called SOLs, yeah, but they are similar to Common Core.)

Students complete the BFUs on their own computers. Yes! You will need computers in the class; You don’t want to print out 250 pages! You can facilitate instead of standing up lecturing or translating the byzantine textbooks. Download my BFUs and forget about the powerpoints!
