This product is based on the original children's song, "The Animals at the Zoo" written by Gloria Rojas and Lannie Battistini. There is an English version as well as a Spanish version of this song. This file contains the English version. This Bomba rhythm from Puerto Rico will have the kids singing, dancing and signing the zoo animals in no time. This song also provides a unique opportunity to teach the animals and distinctive (semantic) features (body parts). So many of the children know basic animal body parts such tail/cola or beak/pico, but may not know snout/hocico, hoof/pezuña, or claws/garras. English language learners may benefit from exposure to Spanish/English cognates (e.g., elephant/elefante, lion/león, hippopotamus/hipopótamo)
This zip file was created to give you immediate access to the Mp3 file version of the song as well as visual support that is included as a picture book version of the book. A picture of me signing (in American Sign Language) each of the target vocabulary is included. Additional materials to support this song will be uploaded soon so please stay tuned.
This song will support your study of African animals.
Also included in English version only: bird, duck, hyena, rabbit, tiger, zebra
