Students will work with fractions and build their word problem skills by working backwards! The student will draw a fraction out of a bag. Next, they will write a word problem with the answer of that word problem coming out to be the fraction they drew from the bag. The student will have to answer their own word problem and show their work. This activity can easily be differentiated by changing the requirements of the word problem ( for example having students include: recognizing fractions, basic operations, comparing, ordering, etc).
