Animated Step-by-Steps® are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
The Ants Go Marching is a classic song that holds great potential for working on both a math and literacy agenda. For example the row of ants can be counted, multiplication can be use to calculate the total number of ants on the page. Also included are six simple patterning challenges. There is also a chart to assist classroom staff in encouraging students to create their own version of the song (devising new rhyming phrases to accompany each number 1-10, e.g. chew some gum instead of suck his thumb, visit the zoo instead of tie his shoe etc.
There are three versions of this song. This is the PCS version (Tobii/Dynavox). Please note this resource does not translate well into Keynote. In symbol-supported versions, the symbols are added as a group AFTER the page animations are activated to ensure a ‘literacy first’ agenda.
This resource includes a song button to allow staff to sing along with the text or symbols as a followup after reading the page.
This resource can be displayed on the 'big screen' (interactive whiteboard, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the 'small screen' (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app). Please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps blog for further information on the creative use of these educational resources. http://animatedstepbysteps.blogspot.com
