August 2015 Apple A Day Way: Taking Time to Transition
With summer winding down and school gearing up, August presents an opportune time to develop back to school habits and routines. If you read my January issue, you know it takes a good month or so to establish good habits… so the month of August is the perfect time to get our minds geared up for back to school time.
As parents, it is important to understand that any new situation involves the loss of something familiar. The start of something new, such as a new school year, means the end of something known, comfortable and expected. The more unstructured, unexpected, or strange the new situation is, the more unable to cope and disoriented we are likely to feel.
August’s Apple A Day Way provides parents with terrific tips for transitioning their children into a new school year. Get ready to set up a homework space, buy the back to school supplies and build a system for the family backpacks. From establishing good habits related to sleeping to scheduling a tour of the school and meeting the teacher, August’s issue will ensure a super sweet (and smooth) start to a new school year… The Apple A Day Way :)
