A set of four, Arctic-themed, easy-to-follow music lessons designed to develop children’s musical time-keeping and performance skills.
Through a range of musical activities, children learn how a metronome works and chant phrases in time to varying set speeds.
Using call and response form, children prepare, perform and evaluate a composition called ‘The Arctic’.
These lessons also support a wider range of skills including focus, leadership, team-work and confidence building.
Each lesson requires a minimum amount of preparation and materials. You only need a metronome and access to an online metronome.
You do not have to have a musical background to deliver them.
This unit includes four, detailed step-by-step lesson plans, a list of Core Music Standards covered, musical words used and materials required, tips and advice, numerous examples to try and a selection of extension options. Supporting images and a copy of ‘The Arctic’ score are contained within a PowerPoint presentation.
This unit can be delivered to a small group or as many children as you have.
As a new contributor, I would really appreciate feedback. Thank you in advance.
