This is an alternative assessment approach to analyzing literature. Students create a “painting” of the work that illustrates symbol, theme, character, etc. They also embed elements of important text within their “painting” and creatively title their work. They also write a placard explaining their analytical approach. Instructions and rubrics are provided for use of this with WUTHERING HEIGHTS, THE SCARLET LETTER & TO THE LIGHTHOUSE, but this approach can be easily adapted for other texts.
