Product Description
This activity requires students to identify examples of effective rhetoric in Cassius's famous (and very persuasive) speech to Brutus in Act I Scene II of Julius Caesar. Furthermore, students must explain WHY each example exemplifies effective rhetoric. In addition to the actual assignment, I have included Notes for the Teacher to explain each step, links to multiple interesting videos on rhetorical devices, a PDF featuring many rhetorical devices defined, and links to videos of the speech being read aloud. I use this assignment after students have read Cassius's speech in Julius Caesar; however, it would work as an accompaniment to any lesson on rhetoric or persuasion.
