When reading a mystery, we activate our prediction making skills as well as our inferencing skills in an attempt to "out-think" the author. In this unit, students will read a mystery of their choice while implementing their prediction and inferencing skills through the questions and activities provided. Students will also work on their analyzing skills in the form of an art critique that is included within the unit.
The books used in this unit are all related to art/artists/museums in some format that is integral to the plot of the story.
The books used are:
Eddie Red Undercover: Mystery on Museum Mile by Marci Wells
The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Koningsburg
Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett
