Students review key events from the period of the Articles of Confederation by reading a brief background, completing a cloze passage, and answering 11 review questions (one is a creative task). A word bank and the answers are included where appropriate. The topics and people covered include: the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, Shays Rebellion, relations with Britain and Spain, the Ordinance of 1785, and more! This would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Draw a digram showing the political organization, or set-up, of America under the Articles of Confederation, and identify where most of the decision making and power was held.
--Who could vote in early America, and why do you think the right to vote was so restricted?
--Explain the difference between the Northwest Ordinances of 1785 and 1787.
--Why and how did Spain cause problems for the new American states? Were those problems worse or easier to deal with than the problems posed by Britain? Explain your thought process.
