This is my BFG novel study. I used this as a whole-class novel study with my 4th grade class. Most of my class read below grade level and struggle with writing. I presented the vocabulary and comprehension questions on the projector, with every student having a copy of the book and a handout.
I would read most of the reading aloud with the students following along, followed by a small amount of partner reading and silent reading. I found that this allowed my lowest readers to comprehend the text better and the partner reading gave them fluency practice. The comprehension questions require the students to use evidence from the text in their answers.
This novel study separates the book into 14 days of 45 minutes each. If you have additional time, I have suggestions in the README file of supplemental activities.
Contained in the zip file is:
1) A README document that explains step-by-step how I used this resource in my classroom and how it is designed to be used.
2) (in Powerpoint, PDF, and a link to a Google Slides presentation) The presentation with vocabulary, definitions, comprehension questions, and comprehension question answers.
3) (in PDF) the handouts for the students
If you aren't sure if this will work for your class, I have a free sample of this (chapters 1-4) that you can download and try out
I hope this helps another class!
