This PowerPoint (ppt) presentation covers the methods and steps that students can use to determine which of the basic trig functions (sine, cosine and tangent) should be used to find either a triangle side length (basic trig ratio) or angle measure (inverse trig function). I use this ppt in my Math 2 (Algebra 2) classes to provide my initial instruction when starting the Trigonometry Unit, thus, it is classroom tested. It is a fully animated ppt presentation and also includes six (6) example problems (3 for basic trig functions and 3 for inverse trig functions) for the students to complete on their copy of the slides as the teacher goes through the presentation. It also includes two slides at the end of the presentation (1 for basic trig functions and 1 for inverse trig functions) that can be used by the teacher as a "master" sheet to generate other trig problems for students to solve. The ppt presentation highlights all of basic steps I have my students use to solve various trig problems.
