We would read the text aloud to the kids individually. I would put two dots on either side of where I wanted them to highlight, and they would highlight between the two dots.
We would often reread the information as class warm ups, print out extra copies and cut out the pictures, laminate them and play matching games matching the pictures to the names of the people or places. You can also enlarge the information, put it in sheet protectors, and have the students trace the information with wipe off markers if they are unable to write independently.
