These are a list of review questions I've drafted and used for my sixth grade social studies class, a curriculum based in Ancient Civilizations.
The format of the questions is free-response. I typically use them as a follow up activity after my students take Cornell Notes. However, I have also used them as an assessment tool.
The format for these questions is modeled after Bloom and Costa's Levels of Thinking. Each set of review questions has two questions where students simply "name" or "identify", two questions where students "explain", "describe", or "draw/sketch", and finally "create", "predict", "evaluate", or "argue."
Some questions ask students to use online research, and some questions require students to write an argumentative paragraph.
Our district uses the textbook entitled "Ancient Civilizations" by Pearson and Prentice Hall. For the questions that require a specific keyword, vocabulary word, list, etc., students can find the an answer directly from this textbook. That said, the majority of the information should be consistent from any publisher.
I hope you're able to find this resource useful. Enjoy!
