This product is a short handout that explains the benefits of reading aloud to students. It is research based (see the references, although there is so much more research that supports each point). It can be printed with the benefits of reading aloud on one side and the references on the other side. There are 3 different options (see the preview)--one with more information and two with less (and different titles).
This product would be great to give to parents at the beginning of the year, at a parenting workshop, for volunteers, or for teachers as a summary of professional development on reading alouds in classrooms.
Originally, I created to use as a handout in a volunteer program in which the volunteers are reading aloud to the students. When we did our kick-off for the program, we discussed the benefits of reading aloud to students so that the volunteers would understand the importance and impact of their work with students.
