This is the full narrative essay packet that I have used with my middle school students the past 5 years. I have worked out all the kinks. Students first compare a typical (boring) story to an interesting story that follows the pattern. Then there is a description of the elements of an interesting story followed by a breakdown of the interesting story into the pattern they will learn. Students then outline their own story and then edit/revise using the handout in the packet. The final page contains tips for specific writing elements such as vocabulary and dialogue. It's all there for you! I now love reading my students stories because they are interesting, funny, and creative. No more boring narrative essays. Enjoy!
