This is a must for any teacher using "The Bet" by Anton Chekhov. "The Bet" is a story that really gets students of all levels thinking about philosophy, and that's a pretty tall order.
If you've taught the story before, you'll kick yourself for not thinking of this assignment. If you have yet to teach the story, this is classroom-tested for you.
On a side note, be sure to point out the all the electronic devices used by students create a modern-day, self-inflicted solitary confinement. Also, make sure all your students understand the frame story and premise of the short story.
