This quick observation lab is designed to give students a hands-on approach at looking at leaves, flowers, and seeds. The student will practice the information about leaves, flowers, and seeds and identify them as monocotyledons and dicotyledons. One way the leaves are viewed is using a lettuce leaf that can be purchased at the super market and the seeds using green beans and green bell peppers. This brings the information learned into the student’s real world. The microscope is used in this lab and the skill at focusing on prepared slides and wet mount slides is utilized to focus on the parts of leaves, flowers, and seeds. This is a great lab to incorporate this information from the book to what the student is looking at in the microscope.
