This is a small group reader's theater is for 5 students although you COULD give one student two roles that are shorter than the others. The script is about what students should do when they are being bullied or if they see someone else being bullied. The school has a big bad bully and no one is standing up to what the bully is doing until three brave bystanders move in. One by one, they stand up to the bully and teach everyone that, when you see something wrong going on, you should do something about it. You can use this script to introduce the subject and begin a discussion.
I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily. The face on the front page has red on it but that is the only color in the whole script. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice in and less off task behaviors take place.
My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. This script is one of the pack that I use at the beginning of the year to introduce important subjects and expectations for my classroom. Let me know how things go!
I haven't put it down for 3rd grade because it would need to be a higher group but the subject is as important in any grade and, with help, 3rd graders could perform it.
