This is a two-page response to literature writing. It includes a prompt, instructions and a template for writing the paper. The response is broken into 2 paragraphs, each in the following format:
Paragraph 1: Introductory sentence/hook, topic sentence, summary (4-6 sentences)
Paragraph 2: Topic sentence, quote #1, explanation of how quote proves your answer, quote #2, explanation of how quote proves your answer, quote #3, explanation of how quote proves your answer, concluding sentence
The prompt is: At the end of the book, Kino's father says, 'Do you remember that I told you life is stronger than death?" (p. 55) Using the experience of any characters in the book, prove Kino's father's statement as either true or false.
By providing students with a template to format their writing, they can focus more on the content of their answer.
