A PowerPoint file containing seven presentations for a World History unit on “The Birth of Democracy.” This PowerPoint was created based on the 10th Grade World History content standards for California.
The PowerPoint file is 71 slides in length. It includes seven individual lessons, which in my classroom provides for 12 days of instruction:
1.1 God and Power in the Ancient World - 1 day
1.2 Democracy in the Ancient Mediterranean - 2 days
1.3 England and the Birth of Modern Democracy - 1 day
1.4 The Scientific Revolution - 2 days
1.5 The Enlightenment: An Age of Reason - 3 days
1.6 The American Revolution - 2 days with DofI annotated reading
1.7 Americans Create a Republic - 1 day
Also included in this download is an 11-page set of visuals and activities to accompany the seven lessons. In my classroom, students take Cornell style notes on the right side in their interactive notebooks; their corresponding visuals pages are glued on the left. These activities are completed before (vocabulary), during (visual labeling), and after (writing, thinking maps, etc.) completion of the presentation.
This unit is being offered to TpT users for free, to serve as a model for you to see the types of things you might find in the other units I have available on TpT.
*There are references throughout the presentations to DVD clips I show during some of my presentations. These clips cannot, of course, be included with your download. Below is a list of the DVDs that I use:
- PBS Empires Series: The Greeks - Crucible of Civilization
- The History Channel: The Universe - Beyond the Big Bang
- School House Rock: The Preamble
Thank you for downloading my lessons! Your feedback is always welcome.
