This activity is titled "Lucky Number Seven"

After reading Part 5 of "The Book Thief" students will complete this activity. They will analyze the chapter titled 'The Gamblers'.

They will make illustrations of how the Hubermann's life is a gamble since hiding Max in their basement. There are also 3 critical thinking questions to correspond to the reading as well. The questions ask the kids about metaphor between Max's current situation and the dream he has about fighting with The Fuher. Another question asks about Leisel's outburst at Frau Hermann and the connection to the theme: the power of words.
