This project is designed for use throughout the reading of The Book Thief, by Marcus Zusak, and requires students to analyze the impactful literary choices of the author, while designing a collage of words and analyzing the mood created by those choices.
Students are provided an Alphabet Matrix wherein they will record Mood and Tone evidence throughout the reading of The Book Thief, while analyzing the narration, events, historical impact, characters, dialogue, and word choices that establish the unique dichotomy of moods established throughout this novel.
This project turns pages into an analysis book containing an alphabet Matrix record sheet, a collage page of words, phrases, quotes, and more, representing each letter of the alphabet. Each page compiles into an analysis book, partner book, or whole class booklet containing each letter of the alphabet, a corresponding analysis, and a beautiful, individualized project representing the author's impact. It is an incredibly powerful teaching tool and an ongoing resource to utilize while teaching narration, storytelling, mood, tone, characterization and literary impact.
