INTEGRATED UNIT PLAN: Uses all four subjects!
"For two weeks, we are going to focus around one central idea: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. Using this, we will discuss the Holocaust and World War II as well as emphasize the power of words (nazi propaganda), influence of relationships (both positive and negative), and examine social injustice as an idea. Using this theme, we will still dig deeper into the content areas, as well as aligning advisory periods with the central idea. Content areas will teach around the themes and the class will take a field trip for an out of class learning experience. Students will engage in a wide variety of topics and experiences as classes all focus on this central idea."
