This resource is intended to support a field trip to the Brooklyn Museum as part of a study of the Brooklyn Bridge. It offers an interdisciplinary approach to teaching about the Brooklyn Bridge using art. The lesson examines the bridge’s role as an engineering feat as well as a symbol of America. Emily Roebling’s role in the building of the Brooklyn Bridge is highlighted. The curriculum looks at the multiple lenses through which the bridge could be viewed. You may choose to add an additional trip to the Brooklyn Bridge for students to make observations of the Brooklyn Bridge today. This curriculum is independent of the institution represented.
