A lesson for young elementary students (K-2) that dramatizes the book "The Bugliest Bug" by Carol Diggory Shields. This sweet story is about a little insect, Dilly, who wants to compete in the Bugliest Bug contest, but she is too small. Well (spoiler alert!), the judges of the contest are spiders in disguise who threaten to eat all the insects, but Dilly comes to the rescue. Using drama, dance, and art techniques, this lesson encourages students to find and celebrate their own talents while teaching vocabulary, science, and language skills.
Included in this download are step by step instructions for three 45 minute lessons including warm up and closure activities, supplemental extension activities, and covered national and common core standards.
The book is easily found in school or public libraries or for purchase online.
