Product Description
Part of the "Math in Action" series. Want to demonstrate how the concepts of basic algebra apply to a Real World situation. In this activity, the student will be able to compare the start up cost (expenses) for a business and the revenue (income) generated from sales. The student will determine the break-even point between profit and loss with understanding and provide detailed explanations for their solutions. As an option the use of spreadsheet software or a graphing calculator will add skills for the student while assisting them to see graphic representations of their data. Topics include systems of equations, graphing data, and interpreting results.
This activity contains an optional internet investigation for students to explore and present their findings to the class as a project. Your students will meet many common core standards after completing this activity. . A solution is provided.
