Product Description
This is a graphic organizer that I use in my 8th grade American history class to supplement my lessons on the Civil Rights Movement. I use various scenes from Lee Daniels' The Butler to emphasize major events including sit-ins/civil disobedience, the freedom riders, Birmingham & JFK, Selma, LBJ & Vietnam, and Apartheid. As I play the scene, I ask students to describe the event in the blank box in the graphic organizer. We discuss what they observed, I answer any questions that they may have, and then we continue with the next scene.
