Designed as a 2-3 research activity, students will discover the real sled dogs portrayed in Jack London's classic novel, THE CALL OF THE WILD. This activity functions as a terrific introductory lesson and enables students to discover and learn about various characteristics of sled dogs from London's time period to present.
Ideas they will explore with the 9 different dogs include: size, origin, color, weight, health, and history. This also contains a writing component as a closure activity.
We recommend using Animal Planet's "Dogs 101" videos as a companion with this unit.
