This is a collection of materials I have used when teaching The Call of the Wild. These activities can be used individually to supplement what you already use in your classroom, or they can be used together to create a comprehensive unit with pre-reading, during-reading, and post-reading activities.
The pre-reading activities include the Anticipatory Guide, Call of the Wild Story Impressions, and Vocabulary.
During-reading activities include Cornell Note Stems (with answers), reading quizzes (with keys), visualization work, and comprehension questions for classroom discussion and writing.
Post-reading activities include a differentiated project menu (with rubric), a literary analysis prompt (with rubric), a map group activity and presentation (with rubric), a quick, end reflection guide, one-pager culmination activity (with rubric), and final assessment (matching, short answer, and essay) with keys. I have used each of these in the past with success. I feel they fully assess the skills this novel has to offer and those covered by these activities.
60+ pages to use in your classroom right off the printer! Every piece of this bundle has been used over the past 9 years with success. Preview includes all pages -- note: some spacing issues present in preview -- purchased download will not include these formatting errors.
