Lesson Plan Objectives:
a) The students will understand the concept of a frame story and how the “Canterbury Tales” embodies that concept beginning with “The Prologue.”
b) Students will be able to summarize “The Prologue.”
c) The students will know the difference between direct and indirect characterization.
d) The students will be able to identify when the author is using characterization.
e) The students will practice paraphrasing poetry for greater clarity and understanding.
f) Students will be able to analyze a character introduced in the “The Prologue”
g) Students will be able to understand how the historical context in which “The Prologue” was written influences the poem.
