This PowerPoint looks at the causes that led to the outbreak of WWI including European empire building in Africa and Asia, militarism, nationalism, etc. There is a map activity, which has the students map out the colonization of of the world by each European country, including the "scramble for Africa", and the colonization of Australia by the British, as well as the colonization of Latin America by the Spanish and Portuguesse. This lesson also describes the events immediantly following WWI, including the Treaty of Versailles, rise of Nazism, new nations in Europe.
