A two page SmartBoard Notebook resource that covers the causes of the French Revolution and has a supplementary lesson on the work of the National Assembly, specifically focused on the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens. The first page asks students to complete a spider diagram on the causes of the revolution based on the following YouTube clip:
The second page asks students to work in groups to create their own Student Charter of Rights. Groups can present their ideas to the class or it could be done as a 3-Step Cooperative Learning activity.
Lastly, students will then examine a copy of the real Declaration of the Rights of Man and compare their own Charter with the French one and try to identify similarities and differences.
The SmartBoard Notebook file is easily convertible to PDF format if you choose to use it as a hard-copy handout.
Originally designed for a pre-IB 10th Grade class.
