This is a set of comprehension questions to be used when reading the novel. The questions focus on basic reading and fact finding. Most answers are found in the text. Some questions ask for students' opinions and a few get them to look up important words in their dictionaries for explanation or for use in answering.
I usually give each student a copy of the questions when we begin the novel, and then use as homework, classwork etc.. It gives students a chance to show off their knowledge of the events in the novel. I'm often amazed to rediscover that students love the routine of answering questions in this format. I also use this exercise with weak and ESL students.
I always insist that students write full sentences as answers. In this way, we're not just fact-finding in the novel, we're improving writing (grammar, punctuation etc..)
There are 205 questions in total. It's an 10 page handout, in Word format, so editable to suit your class.
