The Christmas Truce - WWI Primary Source DBQs

The Christmas Truce - WWI Primary Source DBQs
Product Description
Does your textbook talk about the Christmas Truce of 1914? On the first Christmas of World War I, British and German soldiers spontaneously agreed to a ceasefire. They sang carols, exchanged gifts, and even played some soccer games in the middle of No Man's Land!

This is a simple assignment that can be done within 1 class period or assigned as homework. It's a short reading of a primary source account of the spontaneous ceasefires that popped up on Christmas in 1914. I found two sources discussing this incredible event, one from a rank-and-file soldier and another from a general in the British army.

There is a short introduction for context, followed by the personal account, followed by 10 questions of varied difficulty.
