Product Description
This PowerPoint presentation briefly examines the last three years of the American Civil War. It begins with a brief examination of the use of African-American soldiers, including the 54th Massachusetts and the massacre at Fort Pillow. It then highlights the battles of Chancellorsville, including the death of Thomas J. Jackson, Gettysburg, including Pickett's Charge, and the fall of Vicksburg. It then focuses on William T. Sherman and the concept of total war. The election of 1864 is covered including the party platforms and the outcome. It concludes with Grant's strategy in Virginia and sets up the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. This presentation is used in an AP United States history class and is based on the second half of Chapter 21 from The American Pageant, 14th edition.
